The Story of the Vera Haus Makes it So Special

The Vera Haus, named after Vera (Hartenbower) Blood, was a wedding gift from her groom Clarence. They were married December 18th 1921. Both affluent citizens of the Douglass community. Vera was a 1914 graduate from Southwestern College and Clarence a local banker. Both Hartenbower and Blood families owned a substantial amount of farmland in the Walnut Valley. No expense was spared when this historic home was erected a century ago.
